Highway to the MEETING FROM HELL....

Today was another jam packed day, but I must say that in the end things went well. Without going into too much detail, our school is currently going through some issues that has necessitated the administration to focus on said issues instead of doing the most important aspect of any of our jobs -- doing what is best for kids.

As I was driving in to work this morning, was greeted by a parent holding hand made sign at the school entrance telling everyone to attend tonight's meeting so that their voice an be heard (again...)

My little buds who had a skirmish yesterday afternoon were here bright and early to face their consequences then the jumped right into a joyful morning of in school suspension. They stayed in the office until lunch then were dismissed back to their classroom. Sad to say that one of my brilliant little friends was out of suspension for less than 40 minutes before he was back in the office to see me again. This time he smeared soap in another student's face -- because he "thought it would be funny". AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH! When his mom showed up to get him, she asked me if I would mind leaving her alone with her dear child in my office for a moment. He begged me not to, but being the evil fellow I am....

VCR ate the videotape containing the interesting conversation between two bus drivers discussing their honest opinions about the new assistant principal. Tech teacher is going to try to tape it back together for me. AAHHHHHHHHHHHHH?

Two of our four night time custodians were out due to family emergencies. I may get to mop floors in the morning! Yippee!

Had a two hour 'closed door' meeting with principal, assistant superintendent and superintendent in preparation for THE MEETING FROM HELL. I've got to brag a little -- they were quite impressed by my colorful and informative spreadsheets containing test data. I've got to say that my present sup. is much more personable than the one from my former school...this one actually asks questions and honestly wants to hear the answer (good or bad)

Can't really comment on THE MEETING FROM HELL. We anticipated that TV news were going to be there. Two newspaper reporters were there thought (Bham News and Shelby County Reporter). You can read slanted details in the paper very soon. Most disappointing aspect of the meeting was that a teacher from one of our high schools showed up -- making painfully judgemental comments about the work our elementary teachers do prepare students before they make it to his Algebra 2 class. Needs to take a class on collegiality.

As an interesting side note -- the reporter from the Shelby County Reporter was hearing impaired (wow -- I'm impressed)
